Throwing My Roommate’s Dirty Dishes in Her Bed After She Refused to Clean Up?

Throwing My Roommate's Dirty Dishes in Her Bed After She Refused to Clean Up? I (25F) live with my roommate (26F), for the past year she's been absolutely disgusting with the dishes.

She leaves them in the sink for days, sometimes over a week, and I've found mouldy food, bugs, and even a fork stuck to a plate with what looked like dried cheese cement.
  • 04
I've asked her nicely, I've left notes, I've even tried doing her dishes a few times, but nothing changes.

Last night was the last straw , I came home after a 12 hour shift to find the sink overflowing with her dirty dishes again (I texted her) she replied I will do it when I can stop nagging, I completely lost it I took every single dirty dish, pot, and cup and dumped them all over her bed food scraps, mould, everything.

I even poured the gross dishwater on her pillow. I ruined her bed. She came home, freaked out, and started screaming at me called me a psycho and said I crossed the line Now she's threatening to call the landlord and get me kicked out, I feel like she pushed me to this point.

Boot oleBouquet I'm sorry... But this is how children handle Problems. Actually, I take that back. Even children are smart enough to know that stupid decisions like this lead to awful consequences. I don't agree with being a nasty slob under any circumstances, but you need to grow up. This is not the way to get your point across.

OP Littleclover20 Your completely right I feel so guilty I have sent her a apology message hopefully we can work it out):

JayRedBush I can understand your frustration though. She started it by being a filthy pig. Try to smooth it over, but she really needs to clean her shit up (and you probably need to move out).

OP Littleclover20 She messaged back and she said that she wants to have coffee and talk about like adults and I think she genuinely means that so hopefully it goes well, thank you everyone for some insight

Bargle-Nawdle-Zouss UpdateMe! after the conversation, please.

OP Littleclover20 Yeh definitely I'm a bit nervous but it's best to be an adult about it as some of you said I went a bit far it's honestly not like me /:

thewharfartscenter_ Make sure there's a lock on your door. Take anything of value and remove it from the house. Plan on moving out as soon as the lease is up.

Shot-Bike-9323 arent u worried bout her revenge

phallic-baldwin I did the exact same thing with an old roommate in 2003
  • 18
Bigmanbonsey Some say you went too far. I reckon it's about right. Maybe she'll clean up after herself now

Ok-Tadpole-9859 We did this with my housemate at uni. He'd leave his dirty dishes in the sink for a week. Nothing worked. Until we had had enough, and carried them all upstairs to dump on his bed. But unlike you, we made sure none of the grossness actually leaked on to his bed. We stacked it all up nicely.

OpinionatedWoman3 I understand your roommate issues but you may want to find a new place to stay...you'd definitely be getting kicked out if I was the landlord. You should have reported her to your landlord instead of taking matters into your own hands.

KittyPuperMamaPerson You aren't wrong but also not right. I would have stacked them all in front of her bedroom door, then escalated from there if necessary. However, I totally understand why you did what you did.
  • 23
binglebelle You did cross the line. You could have piled them somewhere else besides ruining her bed

Think-Disaster5724 Paper plates and plastic silverware are her friends.
